Chris Carpenter

As FocusPoint’s Government Affairs Director, Chris works with a variety of construction unions and union contractors in support of legislation and policies that ensure a robust construction industry. In the Legislature and across state agencies, Chris navigates and leads policy work related to worker’s rights and protections, construction and employment, transportation and energy, and workforce development issues. Chris works with elected officials and stakeholders across the political spectrum to effectively represent the interests of our clients.

Prior to joining FocusPoint, Chris served as the Legislative and Political Director for the Oregon and Southern Idaho District Council of Laborers. In this role, he represented the interests of laborers in the public and private sectors legislatively and through campaigns and elections. Earlier positions have included staffing gubernatorial and legislative campaigns. His experiences lead to an in-depth understanding of the intersection of election campaigns and policy development.

Chris has a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from Washington State University. Raised on a wheat farm in Eastern Washington, Chris brings his firsthand perspective into the issues facing working people and small businesses in the Pacific Northwest. Today, Chris lives in Washington County with his wife and two dogs.
